Gargling with Black Tea as an Effort to Increase Saliva pH in Elementary School Students

Background: Tea is an herbal product which has antibacterial effect and ability to increase saliva pH. black tea contains polyphenols can help prevent dental caries. The teeth of primary school-aged children are susceptible caries, prevention needed as early possible. Objective: To discover the effectiveness gargling with salivary pH on elementary school students. Method: This a quasi-experimental research pretest-posttest design control group. population in this was 2nd grade students State Elementary School 58 Total Sampling used for sample collecting. divided two groups, namely treatment group gargling, other distilled water gargling. data analysis Wilcoxon Mann-Whitney. Results: Based results, average before 6.634, increased 7.297 after tea. 6.648, 6.669 water. Test result showed value p= 0.000< 0.05 means there significant difference between Mann-Whitney 0.000 < so increase. Conclusion: Gargling effective increasing students.
